Why is it important to invest in this type of energy?
One of the main reasons for investing in sustainable energy is the reduction of pollution and mitigation of global warming. The secretary-general of the United Nations (UN), called on countries to stop financing the coal sector and commit to reducing the use of fossil fuel. According to the report of the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Estimation System (SEEG), Brazil reduced the emission of greenhouse gases by 5% from electricity generation. This decrease is mainly due to investments in wind and solar energy generation.
In just two years, the number of solar panels installed in Brazil increased by 560%. In other words, both the population and companies are beginning to become aware of this change and are investing in sustainable options. This shows that the country is moving towards sustainable development, opting for clean energy sources.
Therefore, we can conclude that investing in sustainable energy is necessary for the preservation of the planet. The solution lies in the diverse use of renewable energy sources, using them in a complementary manner, according to seasonality and intermittency characteristics. In Brazil, both solar and wind power are abundant and have been gaining prominence and investment by the government.
